God has always existed as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity fulfills different functions, each has the same power and authority.

The Bible is the Word of God for all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is completely accurate and relevant to our daily lives. The Roca de Refugio Church allows us to be guided by the Word of God.

His presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s justice, and coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ. Evidence of the Holy Spirit is seen in the fruit of the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, gifts of the Holy Spirit, and being sealed upon repentance.

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only path to salvation through the forgiveness of sins. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift given through God’s grace, and cannot be earned through our own efforts.

The resurrection of those who have died in Christ and their rapture, along with those who are alive at the Lord’s coming, represents the imminent and blessed hope that the Church longs for and holds onto. This hope is rooted in the certainty that, at the end of times, all believers will be gathered in the glorious presence of God. It is a hope that drives us to live in holiness and persevere in faith, knowing that one day we will be transformed and share in the fullness of eternal life with our Lord.

Prayer is our ability to communicate with God. Through the salvation of Jesus, we no longer need an intercessor to go between God and us; we can address Him directly. We believe that nothing monumental can be done without prayer preceding and continuing through it.

Baptism is a symbolic act to publicly profess one’s own salvation. God commands it, but our salvation does not depend on it. We practice full immersion baptism, symbolizing the death and resurrection process that Jesus went through for us.

Communion (The Lord’s Supper) is a unique time when the elements of bread and juice express, in a spiritual way, the body and blood of Christ. Communion is taken by believers in memory of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

Bible Verse Reference:

  • 1 Corinthians 11:23-25

Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. Being eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence.

Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God, but was separated from that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot achieve a right relationship with God through his own efforts. Each human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
